My 1993 Honda Civic EX started to indicate that it was overheating a few days ago. It goes up to about 90-95% to the H (red zone) in about 15 minutes of driving local roads (or highway).
I checked the coolant level and it seems fine, and there are no leaks. There aren't any noises or smoke from the engine or from the tailpipe. When I put the heater on, it's hot, and the engine heat level goes down slightly (to about 50-60%). I checked the radiator hoses and the top one is hot and the bottom one is cool.
Could I have a bad thermostat? Are there any other suggestions? Should I try to change the thermostat myself (I have no tools right now)?
