So i Have an 83 Honda Civic that wouldn't start or even turn over last night. i looked under the hood and found that the battery casing was off and the battery that i purchased a few weeks ago was hanging down, not where it was suppose to be. i put it back up and still it wouldn't start. the Chords connected the battery were all intact and everything looks right. I had a friend help me look at it and the people at Auto Zone suggested that we try to hot-wire it with copper coil, touching the starter to try to narrow down where the problem could be. We did this and this time it tried to start but wouldn't after a long time of trying. So i believe i have two problems. One, possibly that my car just sometimes doesn't turn over. but Two, because the starter attempted to start we decided that it wasn't the starter and must be something between the starter and the ignition.. can anyone help me? What looks like it's the problem?
I tried doing what answer suggested and it tries to start now but wont turn over...
