sometimes my car will not turn over. I have to jump my battery and it is without even leaving my lights on or anything. I have noticed when I am driving down the interstate, and I turn the heat on, everything on my dash dies and my lights get dim. My radio cuts off too. I am afraid it is going to stall out while im driving. I have people telling me it could be the battery or the altenator. anyone know which??

what you describe could be either but a fast check you can do is start the car and remove the battery terminal if the car stalls then it is alternator it keeps running then get the battery tested it is faulty this test will give you an idea but is not positive get both battery and alternator tested by an auto electrician the test should be free

The only way to truly know which it is.... is to have them tested. Drive your car (leave the heat off) over to Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and they will test them for free. If you can't get the car started, "I would" take the battery out of the car and have someone drive me and the battery over there to have it tested. There are also inexpensive testers you can buy to test for yourself but I think the best thing is to let the store test it. Did I mention it was free testing??? ;o)

sounds more likely to be alternator since you say everything goes dim while the car is running. even with a bad battery, you would still have normal voltage when the car is running/driving.
