I have 2 12" sony explodes. A sony explode head unit. and i forget the amp but i know its not the greatest amp. It is a D4. The subs play fine but the quality isn't that great. The low notes are fine but the high notes are a lot quieter and often are unheard. Overall the notes arn't that clear im pretty sure thats just my subs tho. Is this just the way my subs are or can i fix them by hooking up a capacitor or something? Maybe change a setting on my amp? Please give me some suggestions if you know what your talking about. Thanks it's much appreciated!

It really all depends on what adjustments you have on your Amp, You can simply tweak it by adjusting the "input" level. Which would increased the bass! You might wanna mess around with your amp for awhile and tweak it to you notice a different and get that overall setting your looking for. As for a capacitor goes it just keeps a temporary storage of wattage so you dont drain your car battery, its often used for spl cause it prevents in some cases of bass drainage. With my amps i just adjusted the input level a lil higher and my subs sounded alot better. Even though you say your not getting alot of punch on high's its all just with adjustments because if it hits low hard bass that's the best bass. Tweak around and you will eventually get the right setting. I noticed in most vehicles powered by just 1 battery effects the bass it will hit extremely hard sometimes and other times not hit at all if your running any other audio devices that werent built-in the car you should always get a second battery ;)

i would say that your subs are just junk. sony should just stop making subs because there is really nothing good about them. but you might be able to make adjustments on your amp that could help this. it would also depend on the type of amp you have. the better quality amp the better the sound will come out of the subs. you could have the best subs in the market but if you have a shitty amp it still wont sound great. try adjusting your amp settings to help your problem. i would just suggest you get a new set of subs and a nice amp to go with them. i know its easier said than done unless money is not an issue
