What's wrong with my betta fish?

Did you get him from a breeder? I would like to know how you know he's only a month old. Usually breeders won't give up fry at that age. Or have you only had him a month? Bettas can change color as they grow..and if this is a fairly young betta it could just be color change. They can also express colors after being fed different types of food. Without being able to see him, its hard to tell. Redness under the scales can be an bacterial infection, but if he is eating well..I don't know. You also said he is more jumper? Have you checked the water? If the ammonia is high, he might display these symptoms.
Be careful about giving meds without really knowing what is wrong. That can do more harm then good.

if he seems to be acting normal ... then he should be ok ... when fish or any other living being gets older they change ... your fish may be getting some new markings .. i used to have a betta and it lived 4 years once it reached it 2 month mark it started to get some red markings on its forhead and her whole body was a peachy colout but she also had some red on her tail so its completely normal. ;D ... the problem is i can't actaully see your fish nd i can't be sure of it ... it could be a disease or a cut...? read more about betta diseases and make sure there are not sharp objects in the aquarium you have

Ok he is a halfmoon betta with a white body and red-blue tails. So he's like a month old and everything seems fine except that like on his body maybe a little over the top of his head and a little between his eyes its like red and pink. This is not normal, since I discovered it today and his skin usually white. Is this a wound? Did he scrape himself? Is he shedding? Is this normal? He's also a bit jumpier and hyper. I don't know what to do. Help? :(
Yes he lives in a rectangular tank by himself. He has plants gravel and a hiding place. He eats normally. It's just the red markings on his head. Maybe he got cut, I dont know. I'll try to buy some medicine if he acts weird or doesnt feel well. Thank you for your answers everyone :]

One thing i was told to do (right here at this site) was to put some meds with him, one drop per gallon of ick meds is what i used, has the 2 meds in it that help, and of course try conditioner too. From experience, i know one thing is that beta fish really dont prefer clean water. weird, but relative of mine didnt take care of their tank and it got so dirty, but the fish was happy, they dumped alllllll the water out and put in clean water and fish died. I never change all the water at one time. the stress stuff i used seemed to help my goldfish a lot, maybe a little tiny bit would help your beta. I would suggest also getting a book about betas....maybe from the library.

is he in a bowl? Bettas cant live in bowls, fish can go blind from the glare caused by bowls. bettas need a minimum sized tank of 5 gallons. they need a heater set at 78 degrees. a filter. plants to hide in when they feel threatened, and some garvel. they need guality pellet food supplamented with freeze dried or frozen blood worms. you need an aquarium thermomiter to moniter the temp, somthing to cyphin the gravel with, and dechlorinating water conditioner for the water. well cared for, they can live up to ten years, an air pump will help keep things clean. hope hes ok,
