whats wrong with my 98 chevy Blazer?

i was driving Down the freeway when all of a sudden when i went to give it more gas it wouldn't work. i tried shutting the car on and it started back up fine. its just when i shift it in gear and press the gas i hear the engine roar but no motion. what could be the problem
the rpm rises but no motion
 
it certainly sounds like a transmission problem. if you notice the rpm's rise and the blazer will not move, most likely you are talking rebuilt transmission.
