Hey,

I don't even know where to start.

Let me just jump right into it, I guess..

What's wrong with me? *Every* time I have to go somewhere, to meet up with an *important* person (for example, a government worker, tutor, etc.) or even call them, my heart starts beating, which doesn't bother me too much, but in some cases, my mouth dries up. Water doesn't really help either.

And that makes me speak pretty fast, which often leaRAB to a pretty messed up speech.

By the way, I've been home schooled for the last couple of years. If I remeraber correctly, my speech was good before. So what's wrong with me? Do I have some kind of a social anxiety? Could it really be? Since *nothing* makes me feel better than having an amazing conversation with someone. Oh, and I'm 18 now. I would like to take care of this problem before going off to college.

If you wanna know anything else, just let me know.

Cheers guys!

I'm not a professional, but I don't think there is anything wrong with you. I think its normal to feel nervous, especially when it is something that is important!!! Happens to me all the time. You just have to relax and pay attention to yourself. I took a speech class in college which helped me with public speaking- I tend to speak fast and use 'um' a lot. Over the phones, I also overthink so I just jot down keep points so I don't rarable. Also, the level of comfort is a big thing for me. Amongst my peers, obviously I am much more comfortable and speak with ease. But when speaking someone in a higher ranking, I get nervous but I just tell myself to RELAX, or I carry around a bottle of water. It helps, believe it or not... I think that's why during debates, you always see people with a glass of water. It just gives you a pause to gather yourself.

Don't over think things and relax. Definitely look into taking a public speaking class when you are in college.

Thanks for replying! :P

I guess you might be right.

Is it possible that I'm really stressed out and not even know it?

Maybe I should try yoga. Any other suggestions? Deep breathing doesn't really help, by the way.
