whats worse for your ears?

is it bass or the actual music (db..loudness..whatever)? i have kids and i have a 10 inch sub in my car.. now the bass never hurts my ears its more my body that feels it..im just wondering which is worse the bass or the loudness of the steady music in your ear?
 
Well if you ask a ear doc they prob. say anything over 100 Db's for a long time that will hurt the ear drum too...

in you car one 10 sub wont hurt, depends on what your listening to.
