Some angry piece of shit

I just got a new PS3 and I'm just curious. Why do the boxes that contain the games have that empty space at the top? Is it to store something, or is it just for decoration? I found that all Blu-ray boxes have that slot. (I'm asking this question from my PS3, by the way. I finally got the Internet thing to work, and I had to make two updates in one day- a new record for me. I still don't understand the PS3 haters out there- I love the games, the beauty of the console. and the free Internet.)

That's just the design of the video game case, that's it.

If the game case was black plastic instead of see-through clear plastic, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but because it's see through, it has a different look and it has that little space on the top.

Edit: To be honest, I think that the game case design of the PS3's games look a lot better than the green color of Xbox 360 game cases.

Well it holds the booklet in place for one, and it also makes the case stronger.

I think that its primarily a design choice (like adrianclay said). The old PS2 cases has a black bar on the top (and "Playstation 2"). The new clear plastic, and moving the black bar to the left helps differentiate the PS2 games from the PS3 games.
