What's w/ END button closing apps on N73?

Do all N and for that matter E series phones do that? It's terrible... Why in the world is there a need for the END button to exit/shut down programs, when the softkey right above it is usually designated as Exit?

Once I got use to it I like it. It was old habit to use the end key before to switch apps but now I've changed and started using the App key, as it was intended. I actually think Nokia considered that a bug and the end key was always meant to close applications but didn't get it fixed until 2rd Ed in the N70 maybe a phone model or two sooner even since I haven't owned each one.

To answer your question yes, all the 3rd Series phones are doing that now.

From Manual: " end key ends voice communication regardles app opened" (is not a real quote but as much a i recall. a lot of apps can run on background and end key SHOULD not exit any of them. That's why (IMHO)

The N70 was the first s60 to have this feature. I like it too. It helps my battery life when my friends press the End key to close apps when they don't know what they're doing.

I noticed that this morning when I was in class surfing the net. I was in the middle of a long post on another forum when I accidentally hit the end key... that pissed me off but I'll get used to it.

Yeah i noticed this too while web browsing, as i used to press the end key to do something else then bring the web browser back up where i left off and continue browsing...

I know I will sound lazy. But....where's the END key again? I thought the "red" button that ends call is the button to end programs too? Or is there a seperate button for switching programs? Can anyone give me a heads up? I am still new with the phone.

I guess Im just used to the end key bringing you back to the home screen/standby screen w/o closing programs. I don't mind pressing the Menu button, but having to press it twice

Oh well, not the end of the world. By the way, it is smart enough, I've noticed, not to exit most of the time when you're in a middle of typing something, like creating a new contact/appointment/todo/note, setting alarm, or being in a settings menu of a program.

I personally much prefer the end key closing programs. It used to be such a drag having to scroll through menus just to exit a program. I close down programs much more than I leave them open, so it makes sense for the end key to do this. Plus we are talking about the 'END' key here. It's only right that it closes down the active program!

The annoying thing is that the red key only closes apps most of the time, and doesn't shut down stuff like music player.
