Whats up with my iPod touch bluetooth?

I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen that I got in December. My boyfriend and brother got 3rd gen iTouches within the last month. When we turn on the blue tooth, it just keeps searching. We can't find each other, if we're across our house.. or if we're in the same room. Nothing... Any ideas whats going on or how to fix that? Thanks!
