I have a 1988 toyota corolla and the engine is hunts when its cold. The revs jump around like crazy especially in low gears and it backfires a bit. When I give it some gas, it calms down a bit but. When I get onto the highway and up to cruising speed +-110km/h, there are no issues at all.
I put in some carb cleaner yesterday and am hoping that that will make a difference but I'm not sure if that's the problem.
