you add them to your address book, then the person that u have to add have to add you.
once they do that, u can click on their name and send messages to them + they will show up in your mii plaza.
Mii is basically your profile. the plaza shit is like your buddy list. everytime you play with someone and they use their profile (Mii), it gets added to your list
