Whats up with all the people who chat on anime sites.?

I love watching anime, but it seems like evtime i watch it online there is some annoying clicking noise that i hav to turn off. infact, its a chat thingy. all these ppl get online and chat about their lives, and even have orgies n stuff. wats up with that?
 
Most of those chatrooms you see while watching an anime online are based elsewhere. They are open rooms from another domain that the anime website is linked too. So you see the chats their but they aren't based from the site itself. Think of it as advertisement.
