What's the worst remake?

As the starter of this thread, I'd let Speed 2 count, it was one of those films made only because if it was awful (which I think most people agree it was), the producers knew that they could cash in on the popularity of the original.

The same applies to most films where 1,2,3,4,5 etc is simply tagged onto the original films name.

Not seen it, but I understand the the TV Mini series version of Dune is even more boring and tedious than David Lynch's film.

Worst of all though has to be Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes". for startes: why? It was a classic, you're not going to better it. If it was a creaky old B&W film with laughable effects you can understand it, but it wasn't. And then, the remake is a shite film, plain and simple.

The Ring, US..

Guy A : Oh, I know.. Lets shove a horse in it
Guy B : A Horse? What's a horse gotta do with anything?
Guy A : My kid likes horses.
Guy B : Cool!

King Kong Lives (1986), basically a remake of the 1933 classic.

Absolutely awful. Imdb users gave it a 3.2 (out of 10.0) rating.

I see King Kong is being remade for release in 2002. Let's hope that'll be better.

Gone in 60 seconRAB.
The original was far better and the car chase at the end was great, unlike the remake.

Have to agree with the sty stallone version of get carter. Truely awful! :D

Get Carter, The Haunting or Psycho, all unbelievably bad.
The remake of Psycho was like the original without atmosphere, cohesion or acting skills. Its amazing since it was a shot by shot remake, just goes to show what a good director can do.

Sorry, posted this twice by mistake. How do I delete it?

Get Carter, starring Sylvester Stallone, is also absolutely awful. It fails to work on any level. The acting's poor, the story's been tinkered with and it just falls apart. Michael Caine should be ashamed for having a cameo in it.

Carter's buddy back in Vegas who he's always on the mobile to is ultra annoying.
