Whats The Unemployment Rate REALLY?

It's a joke really. The percentages you see are inaccurate. The new services get their information from unemployment offices. But the offices only count those they're paying benefits as unemployed. Once your benefits dry up, you're no longer part of the percentage.

In other words, it's higher. A LOT HIGHER.

Don't forget those denied in the first place.. such as in Texas where your employer pays for unemployment POST employment as opposed to an insurance through the course of your paychecks like New Jersey or Virginia.. So employers don't ever "lay off" anyone or terminate them for unjust reasons.. They trump up bullshit charges of misconduct or whatever that cannot be proven or disproven to get your unemployment denied.

If Congress would quit fucking extending the benefits for the unemployed, the rate would lower dramatically, methinks. Give me a break, some are going on 2 years now, arent they? Cut off the cash, and half of these fucks would go find a job, even if it was for less money than what they're used to.

The union worker who was making $35/hour at his job who got laid off has no motivation to go seek a $12/hour job when he/she is collecting more than that in unemployment benefits...that is, unless, the benefits are cut off.

You do realize that unemployment benefits are capped, right? The weekly cap for a single person who exceeded the high salary bracket in Ohio is $375 a week before taxes. The weekly cap for a person with 2 dependents who exceeded the high slary bracket in Ohio is $456 before taxes. That works out to $19500 a year and $23712 a year. Working a $12 an hour job for a year (2080 hours) works out to $24960. Thanks for playing thekid65, but you're wrong.

yes.. cuz cutting off the last remaining income of 10% of the national population would certainly help the economy as those people would then not be able to purchase groceries, clothing, and other goods. Certainly some ("SOME") are holding out for employment in thier original job income level but you seem to forget (or are made ignorant by faux news) that unemployment pays also if you are under employed.. the definition being if you take a job of a significantly lower income then that of your origional job for which you are collecting unemployment for. The ignorance to this nationally is staggering....

But in the end I hear this blah blah about how just cutting off the 99 weekers and the other long term unemployment people would solve the problem. But once those people suddenly lose what little income they have left(the whole lucritive $900 a month they get), it means the grocery stores would lose that money.. because if you ever tried for welfair you know the definition of "poverty" is rediculous as me and my wife make a total of $2k a month and welfair says thats $10 too much with our expenses at 75% of our income. So those grocery stores would lose out hard and some might even close since the unemployment rate is much higher then you really think. Then the department stores would lose out from clothing and object sales.. all in all those businesses would likely have to downsize due to the loss of income.. leading to more people on unemployment(or denied it), and leading to more loss of income for business.

It's the circle of capitolism. When things are good some do well.. when things are bad.. many die..

About half the people I know are unemployed. Unemployment does not count people whose unemployment ran out without extensions.

LMAO.

Yes, taking food and electricity and housing away from people who can't find jobs is a great way to make them get a job! Or let their kids die of starvation/pneumonia.

According to this... the unemployment rate is about 22%.

There is also this article about a higher than reported unemployment rate. I personally think the unemployment rate is higher than the reported 9.whatever%.

The unemployment rate, as shown on TV, is a great way to fool stupid people. It's so much worse than they're saying, and it's obvious.

Say what? Ohio is capped @ $503. It varies by state, obviously. And it must be a good thing to live in Mass. Also, I think (but not sure) that the witholdings are different on unemployment checks, affecting your take home pay.

The majority of the states have a higher benefit than you quoted...but nice try, Jr.

Edit: Keep in mind too, that I just threw that $12/hour figure out there....most entry level jobs dont come close to that....and folks are not willing to work for less than what they can take home though unemployment checks. Keep on keeping on Obama!
