I'm looking for the title and author of a particular romance novel.
The main female character was betrayed and she is a silent character. She doesn't really talk and dislike having people touch her. She is coursed into marriage.
I remember that closer to the end of the story, the dowry for the main female character goes missing and she goes looking for it during a snowstorm. She sneaks out without letting anybody know, not even her husband. Her husband goes after her and they end up in a grove where they find a tree (I think) and there was something in the story of the tree. That the tree used to be a woman who was turned into the tree (I think).
That's all I can remember. Hope somebody can piece that together.
