What's the scariest movie you ever seen?

Oo agree with Black Christmas, so creepy. Don't bother with the remake, it's horrendous.

I adore the music, do you know if the remake of Suspiria is still going ahead? hope it's not.

I enjoyed the remake of Ringu, one of the better remakes I think, shame about the sequel, terrible.

Get your partner to buy you The Vanishing on dvd, since he deleted it, tut tut.

The Grudge U.S.

Terrible film but scared the crapola out of me. The freaky blue faces...ack, and that scene with the girl coming down the stairs on all fours, dear god.

My horror hangover from childhood is American Werewolf In London. Still get creeped out to the point of not sleeping if I hear the Werewolf howl noise from the film. Hate walking off the path in parks etc. too at night.

Recently, What Lies Beneath has shaken me up more than anything. Constantly on egde throughout. Brilliant film.

Oh DEFINITELY. Only make sure you get Spoorloos, the original Dutch film, NOT the American remake with Jeff Bridges. The original is creepy and horrid and will stay with you all night while you like awake with the lights on.

I also recently saw The Wicker Man for the first time, and was TERRIFIED. It's not gory, it just gets under your skin and gives you the total creeps for ages.

Check out The Legend of Hell House, a cheesy old movie with Roddy McDowell in it. It has a very dark atmosphere and I found it seriously creepy. Recommend watching it alone, after midnight and in the dark.

I tend to believe that you have to meet a movie half way for it to scare you - if you sit there with the lights full on taking the piss out of it with your mates, nothing will scary you!

If you want to be scared and have the patience, look up a book called 'The House of Leaves' by Mark Z. Danielewski, now that is scary as hell.

The scariest film I've ever seen is Final Destination. Although I can't say I've watched a lot of scary films. I don't get scared and I find them pretty boring. But Final Destination did give me the creeps.

The most non-scary (and boring) "scary film" I've ever seen in the Scream trilogy. There was nothing even remotely scary about any of them (I was forced to watch them by my grilfriend who thought they were brilliant!)

I reckon I could make a really scary film if I wanted to, because I know exactly what scares me in real life, and I would just put that in a film.

Wow, speaking of scary, I was just listening to the Super Mario Kart ghost theme (played 35% slower than normal) and man, that is actually really scary music when it's slowed down!

I want to see a movie that will make me nibble on my fingernails until i reach the bone, from the terror and fear i will be feeling. I dont want gore, bloody shit, etc. That shit aint scary, its just "ehh"....

Recomend some shit, people.

Salems Lot and Nightmare on Elm st scared the crapola out of me as a wee nipper. Another film i could mention that made me cautious of going upstairs alone after watching it was a film called Witchboard. stars Tawny Kitaen (David Coverdales ex missus). At a party Tawny kitaens ex bloke pops round with a ouija board and they summon a spirit they think is friendly, however the said board enRAB up being left behind at Tawnys house and she dabbles with it on her own (a no-no apparently) and finRAB herself starting to become possessed by a right nasty blighter. I can't for the life of me find this on DVD but would love to watch it again. The same with FEAR (starring ally sheedy) i keep seeing FEAR advertised on sky but it's the mark walberg film of the same name.

edit: man alive, i just did a search on amazon and there Witchboard was. Am buying that badboy right away. Joy!

That's an unofficial remake of the 1963 The Haunting.

Not bad (Roddy McDowall is always worth the price of admission) but definitely not as good as the original.

The first time I saw it I was staying with my friend and her parents in the country. If I remember rightly there's a bit in the film where the werewolf crashes through a window and gets in that way. Well at that point, it was in the early hours in a lonely area, it struck me that the bungalow I was staying in had large glass windows everywhere, those that go right down to the floor - even the outside door was mostly glass - I felt petrified with fear. I have the DVD now and have been only able to watch it once

Another film that terrified me was 'Night of the Demon' an old black and white English film.
