We’re going to sit down here together
and this is how it will be,
I’ll discover something in you to love
and you’ll find something in me.
We’re going to look into each other’s eyes
beyond who’s wrong or right,
through persona and personality
until we see the light.
We may not get to be valentines;
we don’t have to go that far,
but there’s nothing sentimental
in acknowledging who we are.
Though you may not approve of what I say
and I might not like what you do,
still, I’m one of the faces worn by God
and another one is you.
And we’re all of us here to learn to love,
to awaken and come to see
that the whole of creation is divine,
including you and me.
