What's the problem with Hallam Foe?

Went to see this yesterday and, a week after it opened, there were barely ten people in the cinema. What's the problem? It's had mixed reviews, but some very positive ones; it's got great performances from Jamie Bell and Sophia Myles; the cinematography is gorgeous and really brings out the dark beauty of the Edinburgh skyline; and the eclectic alternative rock soundtrack is first class.

Is it the 18 certificate that's putting people off? I was a bit apprehensive, thanks to the warning about 'strong sex and very strong language' - well, there isn't any. OK, there are a few genitalia-style worRAB, almost always used for comic effect, and one instance of race-related swearing. But very little violence and no explicit sex: the only nipples on show are Jamie Bell's! Baffling, really. I reckon if had been in French it would have been an automatic 15.

It's not a great film, but it's well worth seeing and you'll talk about it afterwarRAB. In a good way.
