When I was in 10th grade and again in 12th grade I (and all my classmates) were made to take a test that asked us about all sorts of things. My friends and I referred to it as "The Bad Test" because it was chiefly about things that we shouldn't be doing.
As I recall, there were lots of questions on drug use. If I knew what categories of drugs (barbituates, amphetamines, et cetera) were, if I or my friends or family used them, how recently, how frequently. It also asked about drugs and smoking.
It asked what grade I was in, what level of education my mother and father had achieved, our family income, our zip code, that sort of thing.
It also asked if I felt safe at school, if I'd witnessed violence or threats of violence at school, if I or anyone I know had ever brought a gun or a knife or made a bomb threat.It asked about gangs too.
I think it also asked about domestic violence and mental health but maybe I'm confusing that with another survey I was asked to do in college.
Anyway, we were told when we were doing this that we must not lie, because our data was going to be counted in a big national study. But what is the name of this study? And is it mandatory for high school students?
