What's the name of this movie, it's been driving me nuts!?

It's about a play writter who is directing a love story but needs actresses so he goes to this brothel and they start auditioning and rehearsing. He falls in love with one of the brothel workers and tries to make the play fit their "love story" until the brothel girl is sold to this wealthy guy and he beats her. But then she dies at the end.

I think christina aguleria does a song on the soundtrack...and I think the name of the movie is like mularoose or something.
Anyone know this movie?
