i think now anything gos were rebels:D

Psycho
The Exorcist
Halloween
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elm Street
Scream

Those are the most iconic horror movies to me. Hate all the reboots - Halloween, Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street.. They were all dire. The only remake I like (well prefer to the original) is Texas Chainsaw Massacare. When I watched the original it bored me senseless and didn't scare me at all (kinda crucial thing, being a horror and all) but the remake was a great film.

Of the later films I will leave that up to you, still like a film that makes you check under the bed.

Don't Look Now 1973
Vampyr 1932
Salem's Lot 1979

Ones I believe that haven't been suggested

50's - Horror of Dracula, Curse of Frankenstein, Revenge of Frankenstein

60's - Dracula Prince of Darkness, Frankenstein Created Woman, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, Curse of the Werewolf, The Devil Rides out

70's - The Hills Have Eyes

80's - The Howling, The Lost Boys, The Fog

The noughties hasn't been bad for horrors if you look away from English speaking one. The Japanese, Koreans and Spanish are still making some good horror films.
