Hi all! Car repairs bills can sometimes be very expensive here in the US, even if you have a good car warranty. One of my co-workers has a car with an engine that just went up on him. The reason was because he told me he got lazy over the years and didn't give his car regularly scheduled oil changes every 3,000 miles/3 months. His car is out of warranty by the way. The Kelly Blue Book value on his car is only about $2,500 but the cost for a used engine will cost him a whopping $6,500. He also still owes money on it via a car loan, which makes his unfortunate situation even more funny. Of course, he's very pis#ed off about that, mainly because it was his own fault for neglecting the health of his own vehicle. He now has to ride the bus to work and back and bumb rides from friends. hahaha! I'm a BIG believer in car preventative maintenance. Here's my question to you. What's the most expensive car repair bill you've ever had in your life so far? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

i have 3 cars ( infiniti g35 coupe, range rover and dodge charger) the most was the range rover ... i did like 60 in a huge ass puddle and flooded out my engine so that cost me soooooooo much money and at the same time they said that my check engine light went on and i needed some oxygen sensor that cost around 600 dollars so all together that shit cost me like 7 grand around there i think even more i dont remeber how much i had to take a loan out on it but the infiniti cost me the most 500 dollars for some stupid thing and the charger i havent had any bad issues only a heat issue but that was only 200 bucks but the range rover was the most that ever cost me but i know now not to do 60 in a huge ass puddle lol

umm nothing i do all my work myself...even the rebuilding machining and honing

I had a Volkswagen that needed a new catalytic converter and it was going to cost me $2,000 at the dealership. Instead, I went to a local repair shop and had the old converter brazed and traded the car in.

um..probably 200.00. My first car was a 240sx and I took it to a shadetree mechanic to put a CV axle in it. Since then I do my own maintance....so NO costly repairs :D BTW now all I own are Mustangs :D

A transmission for a 2002 Kia Spectra. I owed somewhere in the region of 3500.00 for the car. The transmission alone would cost 2500.00 and the labor was 75.00 per hour and at least 8 hours. The car was out of warranty by 100 miles. I had this car to the dealership 6 times in the time I owned it complaining about the transmission. I called the Kia company about the transmission so they had that on file. I called them and called them to work with me to get the car back on the road so I didn't have to walk away from it. I got no response. After 6 months they finally came and got the car and sold it for little of nothing and told me I owed them over 5,000.00. This was much more then the car was worth. I loved that car but the dealership and the maintenance mechanic department wasn't worth squat.
