What's the logic behind Nokia's phone model numbers?

Well, because different models have different features, they need to be able to differentiate between them in case it needs repaired... and no, there's really no rhyme or reason behind the numbers, usually a more advanced model will have a higher number, but they just think up any series of numbers that they think that the buyer will think sounds super high tech to them.

I use to have a Nokia 5310 that came out a while ago, but i now have a much newer touch screen model, but the number is 5230. And the 5230 is just a cheaper (in price) version of the 5800 - and was even released after the the 5800.

and this isn't the only case. It seems like their numbers are just random, they definitely don't go in any specific order. Does anyone know the logic??

thanks :)),
