What's the easiest way to unlock an iphone?

Okay, so I'm using the T-mobile network and I got an "unlocked" iphone but when I got it it was locked and I need help to unlock my iphone it's not a 3g or a 3gs or any of that it's just the regular iphone. Is there an straight forward way to unlock it? and if so how? It only allows me to make emergency calls at the moment.
