whats the difference between tamatio and salsa?

im not sure if i even spelled it right. tamatio? tamotio?

anyway i always eat mexican food, but i always called the sauce "salsa". green, brown, red, white. whatever color it was.

whats the difference between salsa and tamatio?
 
TOMATE is just the vegetable (Tomatoe) and Salsa has several ingredients and sometimes it has tomatoes on it.
 
With tomatillo's one normally makes pico de gallo. I also make my salsa verde for pork with it.
'Salsa' is the American version of hot sauce. It's full of tomatoes, a small amount of chili, onion and possibly some cilantro. Real hot sauce is not made that way.
Red hot sauce is made in a variety of ways. Not heard of brown or white, and I live 'thisclose' to the border.
