Im looking for one to save my pictures, so just wanted to know whats the difference between these two.

you can save your pics on both. usb flash drive and hard drive are pretty much the same. flash drive are thumb drive like the k-chain usb drive comes in different sizes like 1,2, 4, 8, 16,32, gigs. usb external hardrives are the huges external hardrive they come in like 60 gigs up to a terabyte. both of them connects to the usb port in front or back of the computer. hopefully this helps

A USB Flash Drive gets power from being plugged in and doesn't need a wall plug.
It has ample space for pictures and music.

A USB Hard Drive requires power and comes with a wall plug.
It has significantly more space.

I guess one of the answers isn't aware of the fact that there are USB hard drives that get their power from the USB connector. A hard drive will hold more because you can get them is various sizes.

When you talk about a flash drive do you mean the pen drive type or the smart drive type. The smart drive type is similar to a hard drive but all electronics with no moving parts. However size is limited.
