What's the difference between a college and a university?

I don't think there is much of a difference lol. Universities tend to be more expensive though and sound more impressive for some reason.

Graduate school is where you go after you get your Bachelors degree, for your masters and phd if you choose to do so.

i don't really know a lot about college, but since i'm a sophomore this year i need to prepare for it a little bit more. apparently there's a difference between a college and a university but i always thought they were two names for the same thing.

also, what's graduate school?

The way i always understood it is that university is a little better then college because they tech you a more broad material/curriculum , while collages just teach a little more narrow curriculum.

In the US, 2-year colleges offer associates degrees. 4-year colleges and universities both offer bachelors degrees. Universities also offer masters, PhD, and other programs (med, law, etc). Some colleges are better than some universities and some universities are better than some colleges. Colleges tend to be smaller, private, and offer fewer programs.

An undergraduate student is working on their bachelors degree. A graduate student has a bachelors and is working on a masters or PhD.

ok,university is so the mother school and the colleges are the kids..that is an example of how it is.
Say you go to the City University of New York. From that particular university you have to choose which school/college you desire to go.From City University of New York/CUNY,there are a numerous amount of colleges, such as,Hunter College,Baruch College,Queens College and The Borough of Manhattan Community College. All of these colleges are equal to CUNY.Which is a University.

Well a college is a 2 year degree. And a university is a 4 year degree. It's good education for you because it's 4 years but it cost a lot.

And Graduate school is when you want to get a masters degree. (:

Hope i helped you!(:

xoxo

University is a more theory based approach whereas college is more hands on practical based.

University is generally taken higher than college since well for one: the parents and parental pressure, Jobs generally take someone with university degree over someone with a college one, and (definetly not true) some think college is for the "slightly slower" people.

Its up to you, mind you the university people dont look down on college kids since college kids (in canada) generally find jobs easier than uni kids
