It just means the number of subs or speakers u can hook up....A channel is a 4 channel means u can hook up 4 speakers or subs and so on... a 2 channel is going to be for two subs...this is if u wire them regular L - + and R - +..... A mono block amp is only gonna have 1 channel thats a - and + and that's it....They generate more power than any other type amp.....Even though i have a mono block amp i have 4 subs running to it...they are all wired together in parallel making them 2ohm which is what my amp is.....If a mono block amp says it has 1000 watts, then u would get about 85% of that power.....any other 2 channel, 4 channel is really gonna get only about 60% of it's rated power.....

ch means channel. if you want subwoofers, ALWAYS go with the mono amp (preferably class d) so that you dont drain from the electrical system too much.

if you want an amplifier for you mids/highs, always go with a 2 or 4 channel. You can run 4 speakers off a 2 channel, it just depends on the wiring.

4 channel amps send power to 4 different speakers, it has four different outputs. 2 channels have just 2 outputs. 4 channels are for your factory/or door speakers. Most newer cars have more than 4 speaker systems, but some use 2 tweeters that feed from the front door speakers so they are really 4 speakers from the car stereo.

If you want to add like subs to your car stereo system then 2 channel amp is best for you. Mono refers to the type of sound that comes out Mono or Stereo. Depends on your sound system with you want a Mono or Stereo. If you want clarity in just your factory speakers do a Stereo amp. If you want just bass to subs us a Mono amp.
