I noticed as I was walking through the book store that almost every other popular book has something to do with vampires. What was caused this sudden spike in interest for vampire books?

Same reason that fantasy as a whole genre picked up after Harry Potter came out... it's the popularity of Twilight (sigh) that has caused like.. literary spam in the vampire department.

I really wouldn't know. it's not like there was some immensely popular series that about every other person liked.
Your exactly right, I was at Borders and all you see is vampire books. I was like what the heck happen to the other books? I think because "Twilight" was a huge hit that the authors now are trying to make something like Twilight but different.
So..now all you see is vampire books. And Twilight was a big hit b4 others of vampire book. So i guess you really can't blamed Twilight :]

Twilight got so big, other authors are also attempting it but maybe in a slightly different manner.
I am NOT saying that vampire books we're huge before twilight!
just saying that the whole world is going for twilight right now, and in the current situation twilight is known a lot so i would probably use twilight as a example.
