What's the catch with Metro-PCS? I mean with ATT all those features would cost me $100+?

And how does it work? I never seen any cell towers with their name on it.
I heard they only cover big cities, and if you travel alot it's not for you, well the most i travel a week is to school, and I live 9 miles from NYC in NJ. So there should be coverage. So whats the catch?
