what's the best way to taper off ppis i was on prilosec 40 for 1 week and then 20 mg for 4 weeks now i want ot taper off so should i take 10 mgs for awhile and supplement with pepcid or zantac

After I was on PPI's for 5-6 months it took me over a year to get off of them. I cut back little by little and stayed at a certain less amount for a month or two sometimes. I made sure to eat very bland food when ever I went a notch down on my medication. My doctor said that there was no sign of the ulcer if that's what I had so then I started decreasing the medication.

With only being on it for one month it may be easier. Cut down on dosage and then start skipping a day then 2 days, etc., I never did cut the pills in half as they aren't meant for that. Just skipped more and more days. Good luck with this.
