What's the best way to fix a leak on the bottom of the transmission base on a honda...

...civic lx? something hit the underside of the vehicle and caused transmission fluid to be leaking out. It's not much but still it's a leak. Are there any compounds or mixtures I can use to paste over the area that's leaking? welding it was recommended however that would involve taking out the entire transmission as it is housed in one aluminum casing. any help appreciated....Thanks. car is a honda civic LX 1995 1.6 engine.

if its the oil pan can replace it if its not might try Liquid steal or some other type of putty type sealer welding woul d be best

That's correct, use JB Weld.Available through NAPA.It's a two part epoxy that can be drilled and sanded.
