whats the best way to cook a roast?

im using carrots celery potatoes onions and a beef roast.
i was wondering is it better to use a beef broth or use cream of mushroom soup?
thx i totally forgot about the beef bouillon i have!

Unless it is an inferior piece of meat, don't make potroast out of it.
Preheat your oven to 350, rub the roast with pepper and salt. poke some holes in it with a knife and insert slivers of garlic. Cook about 45 minutes/pound. Use a meat thermometer to get the degree of doneness you desire.

If you make potroast, brown the roast in a pan, cook covered with a little water, throw your veggies in for the last half hour. You can use broth if you like, but if you do, don't add any salt to the meat. Cook until the meat is falling apart.

I found this one method and haven't switched yet.

Salt/Pepper the roast and brown on all sides in a non-stick skillet.

While browning add sliced onions, carrots, and halved new potatoes to the bottom of a crock pot. (large enough to fit all ingredients)

Sometimes I ad a couple fresh sprigs of either thyme or rosemary. (Optional)
Once all the veggies are in I add a cup or so of beef broth. I also shake (to taste) sWorcestershire sauce over the top. Sometimes even a little garlic powder.

Cook according to crock pot directions time wise and enjoy! It is super easy and everyone raves about how flavorful and tender it is.
