What's the best color to shoot for digital backdrops?

We use white the most, followed by black and then one or two of the standard chroma key colours (green or blue)

There are other backgrounds used as well.

Painted muslin cloth is a big favorite.

Ok first of all I'm a newbie, I have a white blanket that I'm going to be practicing with. However, should I be using another color if im going to be extracting the photo ? I would presume that professionals use different colors (blue, green) depending on what the person is wearing ? I could see how a white background would be a problem for someone dressed in white.
