What's something that happened in the news lately that's very interesting?

In Canadian History, each student has to present a project about something that happened in the news. usually, it has to relate to Canada but if it's reeallllyyy interesting then it doesn't matter. So far some students did "the plane that landed in the Hudson", "the submarines that collided", and "president
Obama". I need a topic but I'd rather something that hasn't been taken already. I can't think or find anything! do you have any interesting stories in mind? and links? THANKS:D
