Whats popular right now???

Yeah. Along with having had absolutely nothing to do with anything at all.

Anyway. Since the topic is chart music, no discussion of mainstream rock could take place without mentioning the Chili Peppers. There is another thread on them, but while we're at it, I think they pretty much erabody the crapness of the current commercial scene. What makes them suck quite so bad is that they have some really great musicianship there, but just churn out redundant rubbish like it's saliva.

Theres nothing wrong with making money, but in the FF's case it's blatantly obvious they're barely trying.

Hell, Dave Grohl has got the talent but they're just dwelling around playing out the more vibrant, less serious, not-quite-as-crap-as-Nickelback card though essentially doing the same thing by releasing the same sounding song on the radio for the last 5 years.

The Foo Fighters really bug me, Dave Grohl especially. Mind you, bigger banRAB have gone pear shaped.

Making music to earn money is a crime against humanity. Money should, in no way, decide how your music should be. I mean I am all for good artists getting paid for their work, but when they throw originality out the window then that is when I have a problem.

Really? I thought it was pretty terrible TBH. The only album of theirs that I like is THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE. Some of their music is so bland.

loz. Arctic Monkeys are about a zillion times more creative and musically interesting than the Foo Fighters and their lyrics tonnes wittier and more dexterous...and I'm not even an AMs fan.

The main reason you won't appreciate their lastest album is because you tend to focus heavily on the lyrics of artists/banRAB

I agree with everything lucy said in her post above yours

yes i suppose i do, but they are important. and it wasnt only that, some of the songs were just not very good. i mean overall i did like it, but it wasnt there best album at all.

I also have in you honour, which i think was a far better album,( loved the acoustic disk) and i do think he is great at writing tunes and melodies, but his lyrics are definatly pretty weak. i mean, the new album is good, and the pretenders is probably the best charted rock song of 2007 by far, but the ablum does have lots of weak song (Statues, but honesly, stranger things have happened)

it's nothing wrong with focusing on lyrics but I tend to do the opposite......with some banRAB/artists their lyrics aren't as important to me
