What's mazda 3's 5 speed auto/manual transmission?

Hi, I'm currently finding a car for under 20,000 MSRP. And i have a choice to choose between the Mitsubishi Lancer GTS or the Mazda 3.
The GTS have a CVT transmission with pedal shifters. which is consider fun for me, i wanted a manual car, but my parents wouldnt let me. so i might as well get a car with pedal shifter.

As for the Mazda 3iSport version, it have a 5 speed automatic transmission with manual mode..? Anyone know how does that work?

Is there some type of pedal shifter?

Also, does anyone know any other cars that is under 20k w/ an Auto/Manual transmission?

its on the automatic shifter with a + and - and you can go from 1st to 5th by pushing the shifter up or down to down shift...its nothing special and most people i know that have automanual just leave it in drive
