What's it called when a film gives you a clue to something later on?

The thing I'm refering to is like the wink in iRobot where early on in the film the Fresh Prince winks as he enters the interview room and then the robot uses this himself later on in the film. I know there's a term for this often used method that directors use for this sort of thing but I can't remember. Anyone know?

Sorry, but some actors just take their previous roles with them. I'll never be able to get Terence Stamps role in Priscilla out of my head every time I see him in a movie. Superman 2 just isn't the same any more.Yep, that'll be the one, thanks.

or "plot plant". (i knew my film and tv studies course would come in handy one day!)

its not really lazy - lets face it, if they didn't use this, people would cry "ha! that was a lucky coincidence!" - but if its been alluded to earlier in the film, it should be more believable. (although it can be too obvious sometimes.)

Yeah, I'd say that in the case I mentioned. You just knew the Robot would wink and it seemed to be in Wills face ages before it actually did.
