whats is the best type of wine for cooking?

Depends on what you're cooking but generally, if you would drink it with the meal, it will go nicely in the meal. Don't go highest quality for cooking but bypass the "cooking wines" and anything else you wouldn't actually drink on its own.
 
Doesn't matter if it's red or white - don't cook with anything that you wouldn't drink. If it tastes awful in a glass, it will taste awful after cooking, too.
