Whats is family life like with a husband in the british army?

We are a australian defence force family looking to swap to the British army in a few years (hubby has dual citizenship)
Tell me a bit about how it is for a Family of 3 starting RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM of the army rank pile.
I Would love to hear from army wives especially.
What is the housing like? Cost of housing? Is the training pay enough to live on? is there really decent family support? Can you have pets?
