What's in between Mercury and the sun?

Mercury is like 30 million miles from the sun, right? So what's in between Mercury and the sun? Are there any asteroids or anything else interesting? Is it just empty space all the way into the corona? Has anyone ever sent a probe to look for stuff in there?

I don't think there are any asteroids or even planets in between the Sun and Mercury. Maybe the occasional comet that strays a bit too close to the Sun. There may be coronal mass ejections (plasma ejected from the Sun) that flies off in between via the solar wind. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Scientists used to believe there was another planet there and they called it Vulcan but they have yet to find any evidence of it.

As far as I know, there isn't anything between Mercury and the Sun besides the Sun's own light and radiation.

Comets, including periodic comets like Halley, the solar wind, solar magnetic fields, which can connect with Earth's magnetic field, and the occasional chunk of rock that ends up there because of the gravitational interactions of all the planets on asteroids and each other.
Scientists still have not solved the 3 body problem so far, so how are they going to solve a 9 or 10 (Sun and 8 or 9 planets) or more body problem?

There are 2 coronal mass ejections going on right now, as well as 3 flares.

we have orbited mercury so we've been close. my guess is that it's far too volatile for anything to orbit for long. THere is huge pressure from solar wind, and prominences, CME's. etc...
