Does anyone know what's going on with Winx Club? I haven't heard anything about whether or not 4kids is picking up Season 4 and/or the movie. I've found the movie on a couple sites online, but i guess i was so used to the 4kids VA's that i couldnt stand the new ones so i figured i'd wait a bit to see if 4kids is gonna pick up the movie (Season 4 too).

Anyone got any info?

Given the current financial state 4Kids is in, it really isn't likely they'll be picking these up anytime soon.

I also don't think 4Kids has ever officially said anything about the movie or the 4th season.

I remember reading one of the comments from the NCOG when people asked him about the new season and movie of Winx Club. I don't think that he was aware that there was even a movie for the series, let alone a new season.

While it would be really nice to see new episodes of the Winx Club, I doubt that they'll pick the movie and new season up anytime soon. The main reason why it's airing two episodes on the CW4Kids lineup now is because it fulfills their E/I requirement. They don't seem to be interested in the series beyond that at this point.

A fact which is ludicrous in itself. I defy anyone to find any educational or instructional information in the show whatsoever. If the FCC isn't going to change or eliminate the E/I requirement, they should review just what is considered educational or informational. I don't consider infomercials or episodes of shows like Degrassi to be either, unlike shows such as Discovery Kids' Grossology or Magi-Nation when it aired on KidsWB!

As for Winx Club, it's typical that 4Kids isn't pursuing picking up the feature or the new season for now. The series was one of their major successes and now that they've mismanaged themselves, they'd rather rerun shows instead of spending some capital to get new material. I've seen a bit of the feature and hope it at least gets a DVD release.

Well, the second set of 52 episodes of Yugioh 5Ds was supposedly picked up, so I am sure they could if it was needed get more seasons. But unlike 5Ds, this doesn't give them money so frequently.

Yeah, it does seem really weird that it fulfills the E/I requirement when it doesn't seem that educational, especially compared to other shows. Even Dinosaur King has more educational/informational material with learning the different kinds of dinosaurs, but that isn't much when we see most of the same dinosaurs in every episode now.

I think that they released the first season on DVD, but those are probably hard to find. I also remember seeing a couple of season sets for season two and one set for season three on Amazon once. It would be nice if the series had a more stable DVD release, but I sadly doubt that will happen anytime soon.

That's true. However, I think that picking up more Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episodes has a higher priority for them than starting up Winx Club again. I'm sure that 4Kids gets more money from 5D's due to the cards and I'm also sure that Konami would want them to continue dubbing the series in order to promote the recent cards. If they wanted to, I think that 4Kids could continue with Winx Club, but I also think that they're just not interested in doing so at the moment.

Yes ... I know you're wondering why I'm bumping a thread that hasn't been touched in nine months.

Here's why -- Nickelodeon has acquired the rights to Winx Club, and will enter into a co-development arrangement for Seasons 5 and 6.

Here's the paragaph from the news release that contains most of the answers to questions that would be asked here:

I'll leave the rest for Bryan and the real members of the Toon Zone News staff.

So...I assume since 4Kids isn't mentioned, they're going to use the original English tracks for seasons one through three? And instead of airing seasons one or two, they're just going to air one-hour specials? Why not just air the episodes if they have the rights to it?

I also wonder how long this has been in development. It didn't really seem 4Kids was interested in dubbing more of the series for some time, but perhaps that was because they knew about this agreement. And why Nick didn't go after Huntik? It kinda seems a better fit for Nicktoons than Winx Club.

I don't like this show -- at all -- but if we have to have more of it, the least Nick could do is restore the original English dub. 4Kids's was a lot worse.

Yeah, since they didn't mention 4Kids, they'll probably use the other English dub. That might be the better choice since they might not be able to get the 4Kids voice cast for the seasons that they're producing. I am surprised that they're just going to air specials for the first two seasons. That seems pretty weird. Though, hopefully, it's just an introduction and they'll eventually air the whole first two seasons.

My guess as to why Nick wanted Winx Club is that they want a more girl-centric cartoon series. They have a good amount of shows that appeal to boys and some gender-neutral series, like iCarly, but outside of Dora the Explorer, I can't think of a cartoon show that aims directly at girls. Plus, it might be a way to attract some of the older girls who aren't into Dora anymore, but still like fantasy/fairy tale like elements. I do agree that Nick going after Huntik would have been a better fit, overall, not to mention really awesome.
