I need to buy a car by January and have had not too much luck. I'm going to a dealership tomorrow and want to look at a 94 Honda Accord with 179,768 miles on it. I don't know much about cars, but are the miles too high for this car? Will it die soon if I buy it? What's considered high miles for a honda or toyota?

Thanks!

That's very high mileage, but it's also an old car. However high mileage is not necessarily a problem if the car was well cared for and maintained well. But the only way you can know that is to have a mechanic check the car over BEFORE you buy.

Also check with www.kbb.com to make sure you pay a fair price.

Remember, used cars are sold "as-is" which means you can't take it back if you find problems later, even as you drive it home from the sale.

180K is pretty high. If they have good records kept by the previous owner, Honda mechanic records and you check the vehicle history (Car Fax), this car could last many more miles.

Thats very high and even with a Honda you will have problem right from the start. High miles are high miles regardless of brand, andything over 100 k is risky.
