Whats causing my 2003 Chrysler Sebring to die when I turn on the AC or Heater?

We just bought a 2003 sebring with 152000 miles. The only problem we have with the car is when you turn the air on, even the vent or heater the car stalls. We have no idea why it does this and don't have the cash to take it in right now, any advice?
