What's better/do you prefer. Rock, or PRE-Rock?

By rock I mean the music that emerged from blues/rhythm&blues/rock'n'roll which developed in the 1960s+ era and continued to up to the present date. I'm including all major genre categories that emerged out of rock, like punk, metal, etc.

By PRE-Rock, I'm talking about any pre-1960s pop music so it could be Vaudeville, Music Hall, big-band/swing, ragtime, cabaret, vocal group, the whole gamut of oldies pop.

So, which is better? What do you prefer?

Personally, a large part of me gravitates towarRAB pre-rock music, because it's generally much more focused on creating great, catchy and memorable melodies.

I never heard the term "pre rock" ever used before...But I like ROCK, it was the opening to the genres today. Without it I doubt Pre-Rock would be around.

Loser, what are you talking about? I'm talking about the music that existed BEFORE rock. Pre-1960s pop music going all the way through the first half of the 20th century. What was so vague about how I put it in the opening?

I have taken an interest in styles like Ragtime, Vaudville and Music Hall since some banRAB I'm into draw influence form them. I especially see theses styles popping up in prog rock pretty often.

And Big Band/Swing music is just awesome. Its one of the most uplifting kinRAB of music there is.

Yeah, but Big Band/Swing and Ragtime can fall under Jazz. Vaudville could probably fall under folk, Music Hall is pop.

I don't think a "old time music" section would attract a lot of people, it would be dead from the start.

i like alot of early jazz and big band but 50's rock started the greatest trend in music ever!!! so yeah rock is king! but a section about jazz and early 20th century music would be kool... cept itd prolly be more like a history class for most people.

I prefer rock but sometimes when I'm at work I'll listen to the big band radio station and oldies from the 50's and such. It is feelgood music and it makes for a better mood at work. I like all of it!
