3 months ago I got a SE w800i and have had some good times with it. But recently like a kid with ADD I've become pretty bored with it, and also I think maybe I kinda like flip phones (a little) better than candybar phones. So I was wondering.... what are some good GSM flip phones out there? I don't know if I'm going to sell my current w800 and get another phone soon or not, but I'd like to see what kinda cool phones are out there. It'd be great if there are some flip phones out there from say Japan or Korea that not very many people have in the US.
Anyway some of the stuff I kinda look for in a phone:
- good quality camera (at least 2mp? maybe even 3.2? lol I dunno how many 3.2mp camera phones are out there though other than the sharp 903/904 and the upcoming SE cybershot phones)
- nice external display that can display time and caller id
- media player for mp3s/videos, and can also set mp3s as ringtone
- Kinda goes along with the media player, a headphone plugin that will let you use your own headphones. (external remote, or just a regular handsfree set with a headphone jack in it)
- expandable memory (miniSD, sony m2 or wahtever it is after pro duo, transflash, you know whatever works and is small and is at least 512mb)
- decent reception quality. 850mhz not too big a deal with me. I thought at first it would be but after having the w800 with cingular for 3 months, it works just fine. Of course though if there was a good flip phone with 850 that certainly would not hurt either.
that's about it for the big features...I guess other small features that would be nice to have are nice lighting (lol), eh...well I dunno...can't think of anythign else at the moment..
Some phones that I've looked into are the Samsung e870, Sharp 903/904, and just a few minutes ago the Hitachi W32H...although I don't know if the hitachi phone would work on US gsm networks, and plus there probably aren't any english firmwares for it... I'm not really interested in the SE w900, as I know some people will probably suggest that. Umm...so yea I dunno that's about it. If I think of anything else I'll post up some more lol.
Maybe I'm sounding a little picky about what I like in my phone...but it's just hard to find a phone with all of the good stuff, and even harder to find one that comes in a beautiful package...
