What's a good price for a used 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250 with 6,500 miles?

I'm looking to buy a used 2003 Ninja with 6,500 miles from a guy on craigslist. He is the third owner and the bike has been dropped several times with some damage to the fairings, a small dent on the tank, and a cracked windshield. The damaged is mostly just aesthetic though. Also, the rear tire is worn down and needs replacing. He asked $1,500 but said he is willing to negotiate the price. What is a good price for me to ask for the bike? The bike is stock except for flush mount front signals and aftermarket foot pegs.
