What's a good last name for first name 'Lark'?

So, I thought 'Lark' would be an awesome name for a male character of mine, but I can't for the life of me come up with a suitable surname. He's a stoic, mild-mannered gentleman of sorts and markedly intelligent at around 24 years of age (if you care to know, that is). I think 'Lark' would sound best with a three-syllable last name, since it's so short - can anyone help me come up with a name of that length?
Something... scholarly? Important-sounding? Maybe uncommon? I don't know!
I forgot to mention, I really don't care for alliteration. >>
As in, first name and last name start with the same letter.
